Conservatory Rules (Permitted Development)
- Maximum height: 2.5 metres
- External doors must remain between the house and the new structure
- Separate heating from the main house
- Maximum internal floor area: 30 sqm
Conservatory regulations were relaxed several years ago. A conservatory does not need to be mostly glass.
Size Limits (No Permissions Required)
- Terraced & semi-detached: up to 3 metres projection
- Detached houses: up to 4 metres projection
- Internal floor area must not exceed 30 sqm.
When It Becomes an Extension
- Remove internal doors
- Create an open-plan connection
- Install a kitchen or bathroom
- Exceed permitted development limits

- Building Regulations drawings & submission: £1,500
- Architectural drawings: £1,500

- Specification upgrade:+£400 per sqm
